The Differences In Things...

I thought it would be fun to talk about the differences between Utah and Arizona as far as the people and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints goes.

Lets start with HEAT! Its mildly warm here in the good ol AZ! It is 106 degrees outside. But since there is almost no humidity here its a different kind of heat so its not unbearable. Because there is not humidity everything is overly shocking. Meaning I get static shock from Stefen almost every time he touches me.

In Utah I dont think I ever once was asked if I wanted a drink of alcohol. Most people assume the you are LDS meaning that you belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Well here in the AZ a lot of people dont know what it means. (at least in the particular area we live in) With this being said we have been asked several times by our neighbor if we would like to have some of his home brewed beer. We always say no but it is always so weird.

The church here lets their youth go on camps over sundays. I know we would have never been allowed to do that.

Our ward is the leading ward with the most converts in our stake and our stake is leading the mission with a 170 converts last month. To me this is insane we had 12 conformations in sacrament last month.

The changes are crazy!!

The Fish we Love

We have pet fish! They are pretty cool fish and they like to do tricks. Today I tried to have a fishy photo shoot but some of them just wouldnt hold still. Heres what you get.

This is kool-aid and she really is that big. She is a powder blue dwarf gourami. She is a delight to have she is slightly blind and has tentacle like things that she likes to poke the other fish with. 

This is Jerald. He was a pain to get a picture of. He is a Green Cory Catfish and is a bottom feeder. Although he generally stays on the bottom he has hes crazy moods and swims up to attack the other fish or the plants. Its hysterical

That little orange thing is lemon. She is a wild one and was a nightmare to get a good picture of.

Lem has been with us the longest. She is a mickey mouse platy because she has a mickey head on her tail. But she just wanted food and not a pictue

These are our children for the time being. They are fun to tease and watch because they are always nipping at one another.

Food Mishaps and Delights..

So Stefen and I like to cook... We try to good and have fun doing it! These are some good things thats have happened and some not so good things. With the recipes for the good ones lol

The Biscuit Casserole Oops

So I have made this a million time in Utah. And for some reason after an hours of cooking the bottoms of the biscuits refused to cook. They just wanted to be dough. We even tried microwaving them and it just wouldn't work. It is a delicious recipe and I will give it to anyone who wants to try it but for some reason it would not could not work for me.

It looks so yummy even now when I look at it but you can see that it is still dough.

 Easy Weight Watchers Taco Soup

Do you cook weight watchers style? I have tried some recipes and the ones I have tried are so simple and so yummy. This is one that worked and I added my own stuff to it too.

Its 1-2 cups chicken cooked and shredded

1 can of chicken broth

1 can of corn drained

1 can of black beans drained

1 small jar or 3/th of a large jar of salsa

Onion

we added green onion for fun too

garlic

taco seasoning

chili powder

Mix it all in a pot and heat throughly do not let boil if its starts to boil turn it down.

Serve with chips, cheese, and sour cream

Easiest soup ever

Burritos

Stefen loves Lynn Wilson burritos but here in Arizona they don't have them and we have tried several burritos and we haven't had any as good as the Lynn Wilson ones so he makes his own.

We usually make 5 or 6 for lunch but today he decided to make a lot and freeze them. Usually its just beans cheese and whatever veggies he wants but today he put hamburger, onion, olive, and carrot in it. With some veggies. Our local mexi mart has to die for tortillas so we have to have those.

I think he said there are 16. It took him about an hour to make them all

Food Prices Rising!!!!

Are food prices rising in your area!? They sure are here milk is 2.53 a gallon and I haven't bought full price milk in months because a store has it it for 1.79. But today I had to buy full price milk! I try to save money by price matching and finding free stuff online. For instance I got a free bag of sweet potato frys today. Often most of my shopping cart is priced matched. It drives the people at Walmart crazy but I don't care. One store had 12 packs of sprite 4 for 8.88. Then Stefen found a coupon for a dollar off and coke product so I got 48 cans of sprite for 7.88! It was a very proud moment for me today!

What do you do to save money? Are prices in your area going up like crazy too? Have you gotten any crazy deals before that your so proud of?

Good News!!

Well folks.. I am coming to Utah in June.

Unfortunately Stefen cannot come because of school but I will be there! My mom is throwing me a BBQ since I wont have time too see everyone if anyone at all so if you would like to come please let me know!!

Sunburn Worries...

You all remember I am sure, that I got the worst sunburn ever! A lady at my work couldnt look at me without laughing her head off. We on Monday I started peeling. Something I must say has never happened to my this bad. Its so bad I was asked yesterday if I have skin grafts.... Some lady today at Walmart told me i looked awful! All I can say is YES PEOPLE I AM STUPID I KNOW THAT do you have to point it out? really? These pictures arent great but they show whats going on

And You can kinda see the sores i am getting from it being so raw and kids pulling on my skin!

Food we Love..

We have some favorite foods around here that we LOVE. I love peach pie! I always do peach pie for my birthday because by the time we get to my birthday we have had cake like 4 times. When my mom came down to visit me we tried to get a peach pie at Marie calenders but that had closed down. So we went to village inn and they didn't have peach pie so I had to settle for berry. We yesterday I got a knock on the door and my Visiting teacher (which is a thing they do in our church. They have 2 ladies visit a couple ladies each month and give them a short lesson and the befriend them) was there with a little peach pie! I was ecstatic! I haven't had one in like a year! It wasnt as good as a real one but it hit the spot! And its so cute!

Stefen does not like vinegar. Or anything made out of vinegar. That includes pickles and pickle relish etc. So when I had told him my mom makes a relish out of green tomatoes he was very hesitant to try it. He smelled it first and hated how it smelled. But he tried a little bit and hes addicted! He has pretty much eaten 3 jars by himself. I guess i'll have to learn how to make it so we dont keep stealing my moms.
