THE sock!

When we adopted Mr. Hulk he came with a lovely and charming sock!
Doesn't every cat?
No? Just mine?
This cat LOVES his sock! He brings it to bed every night and you can tell he brought it up because he talks to it. He licks its and tries to fluff it with his paws. It goes downstairs in the morning. He doesnt really like to play with it he likes to cuddle it.
When we first got him the first couple weeks he would steal other socks and I would fine them in piles but he always came back to this sock. He now leaves all others alone.
I mention this story because my cat thinks hes a dog. I have had cats my whole life (minus the 2 years in AZ) and NEVER have I had a cat attached to a "snuggle" object.
THE sock has received its first hole! I am thinking I need to learn the lost art of darning so that Mr. Hulk will always have his sock.
Do you have an animal who does weird things? Or is it just mine! Tell me below!

Meet Mr. Hulk

About a month and a half ago we got a cute black 4.5 month old kitten. We named him Hulk. I grew up with cats and they are wonderful little creatures. We werent able to have one in Arizona and when we moved here Stefen agreed we could get one. He goes out of town a lot and I only work for a couple hours each week a night none the less so Stefen thought it would be nice if I had company. This little guy has quite the personality. He LOVES car rides. He is learning how to walk on a leash. We have had a rough time and had to take a break because he tore his feet up. He has a purple sock that he carries all over the house and we are learning to play fetch. He likes to eat our food. He LOVES bread sticks and pizza crust and will swipe it from your plate. He loves to tear tissues out of the box. His favorite toys are feathers and swooshies on a stick and his mini tennis ball that goes all over the house. He is litter shy and wont go if our in the bathroom. He likes to snuggle when we are on the computer and he LOVES the TV. He knows when the WII is getting turned on so he can follow the hand. He is a very naughty kitty and today chewed some of my hair off while I was sleeping. He will also attack our feet just about anytime he sees them moving. He likes to head butt anything he can including his feather stick. He also loves his belly rubbed. He turned 6 months old today and I am sad he is not so little anymore.

Fears

Stefen is out of town and I am wide awake. I thought I would blog my feelings out tonight about fears. I have some pretty irrational fears: like bugs. I hate ALL crawling, flying, scooting, gross nasty creatures. All of them. I run faster than Forrest Gump. Seriously ask anyone that knows me it is horrible. But another irrational fear that I did not have to deal with much in Utah and Arizona are bridges and overpasses. I drive on them or Stefen drives on them and I get white knuckled and sick to my stomach and then when we are off I am fine. I fear that I will get stuck on one and it will fall or a natural disaster will  happen and I will die. But living in the fine city of Eugene where the McKenzie river flows so beautifully, there are A LOT of bridges. I am coming to terms with them and learning that I can get over it however the thing I have been avoiding is something  similar to the picture below. A freeway interchange. I HATE them. They are usually one way, narrow, and curvey and make you feel like you are going to fall off. Seriously the speed limits are 45-55 MPH and I go 10 so I wont die. Usually people are honking and probably swearing and flipping me off. But I dont care. To get to Costco going on the freeway you  have to take one of these lovelies. Today I went to get a friend and her son so we could make a Costco trip. She got in the car and I said "okay tell me how to get to Costco without the freeway." She looked at me like I am crazy and told me that it would take longer. I said I didnt care but to get me there. And she did. Maybe one day I will come to terms with interchanges...

Do you have any irrational fears that you avoid things so you dont have to deal with the fear? Tell me about them! I dont want to be the only crazy out there!

Dying Jars

So recently I have been called into the Young Womans program for our Church. I am a VERY hands on person so I decided I needed a cute thing to hold my magnets and pens and such. So I decided to dye jars. I took a couple tutorials and made it my own.
I added food coloring to clear elmers glue.

And then I tipped and spun and did my thing and I let it dry.

SO I did a "yellow" one however it turned orange.

I was impatient and I kept tipping trying to get the look I wanted thats why there are streaks but I like it) even though they were dry I felt they needed something more.

So with my hot glue in had and modge podge at the ready I made these cute decorations.

Wallah!

The Picture Frame Remake

Things have been pretty calm around here. We are getting into the swing of thing and trying to learn the new area. Someone (yes I am the guilty party) buried the camera under a pile of papers. Needless to say it has been MIA for a while. Until today. It was found. We have been doing some fun crafts around here and we wanted to share.
I have been asking, no begging, no pleading on my knees with cherry on top for a year or two now for a jewerly holder or something. All of my pretty things have been hiding out in little boxes! But Pinterest and Goodwill came to the rescue! We decided to make a jewerly picture frame.
We found this sweet and somewhat tacky photo of ducks at good will along with a semi lace looking shirt thing.

For some reason I could not get the ugliness of this frame to come across it was like blue crackled paint with wait showing through it was hideous! So I sanded spots away and got to painting.

I am in this phase in life where I want everything to be teal. Isnt teal such a wonderful color. Its warm and cool and unique all at the same time.

I guess I went crazy with taking too many photos of one thing and not enough of another. With that being said I am also in the vintage antiqued look right now also. So I took my sanding block and roughed out the edges of the frame after the paint was applied.

Stapled Lace on it and Wallah! However I really wanted it to hold necklaces...

So we just happened to have eyehooks laying around. So we took some snipper things and some holder thing and went to work into making them hooks instead of holes.

We had a lot to do and I was frustrated so I took pictures and Stefen made them beautiful.

And then came the VERY tedious and lucrative task of screwing those puppies in.

Wallah all done! And I love it I must say.
