Talesin West by Frank Lloyd Wright

Frank Lloyd Wright began building this desert masterpiece in 1937 as his personal winter home, studio, and architectural campus. Located on the beautiful Sonoran desert in the foothills of the McDowell Mountains in northeast Scottsdale, the site offers a broad range of guided public tours.  Visitors experience firsthand Wright’s brilliant ability to integrate indoor and outdoor spaces.

Shelbi was VERY excited to go see this house. We decided to go and take a 90 minute tour and it was awesome. Here are a few pictures. We werent able to take any pictures of the inside unfortunately.

These were all over the property.

This was one of the rooms that they held meetings in.

The ceiling was canvas. That drawing is one that Frank Lloyd Wright submitted to Phoenix to use as a capitol building. It was never used as a whole. Although parts of it are.

The Front of the house and the area we werent allowed to go in.

The pool! It was only about 2 feet deep if that. And I wanted to go swim so bad!

One of the many artistic things they had on the property.

One of the towers that held water.

Another pool. And they wouldnt let me get in it!

Bell tower!

This beauty blew fire and was hooked to a gass line. But they only turn him on at night.

Statue garden.

And they little beauty was the most well behaved thing ever! We miss her VERY much!

A Fun week

So we all know how awful I am at taking pictures of things... Well Stefens mom Ann came to visit this week and guess what!? I did NOT take a single photo... I should be fired!

We had a blast she got to go to work with me.. (which I am sure was not as entertaining for her as it is for me) We ran errands and she got to see the famous MEXI MART!!!! We went shopping for our new niece baby E. We went to down town Glendale and had the most amazing gluten free, white flour free, and preservative free cookies ever! They were absolutely positively fantastic! Too bad they are 2 dollars a cookie or I would have fattened myself up on a dozen of these amazing cookies!

Ann also helped our closet get a little more organized which to me is AMAZING! I love organizing the only problem is... you have to have money to organize with...

Coming up this week we have the Johnsons coming to stay with us and we have a Labor Day/Housewarming party... Hopefully I can redeem myself by taking LOTS of pictures... I am also helping to plan a you are about to pop baby shower! I am so excited it will be lots of fun!!

Catching up

So February has been quite busy unfortunately I am horrible at taking pictures even if I have my camera with me! So the weekend of the 14th some good friends that I grew up with cam to Arizona for a race and they stayed with us. They have 2 kids and we had a blast playing with them. The night they left we found out that Stefens oldest sister is Pregnant! We are so excited to have a niece or nephew to spoil!

The next weekend a good friend of mine from convergys, Ken, came down to run in a Ragnar which was a 200 mile race that he did with a team of 12 people unfortunately I took one picture and it was of the team below. It makes me laugh because their are 3 men in the body suits and then there is Tarzan! I thought it was hysterical. We were able to go out to dinner with Ken and get to know him!

Yesterday we went to the temple and on the way we saw this man on his bike with an american flag and a dog! We laughed for a little while at what an odd predicament this man has himself in!

Tonight Stefen decided to make dinner! I came out of the bedroom and saw this lovely concoction. The potatoes with soup as a gravy was delicious but the thing in the bowl was to say the least interesting. He calls this wonderful thing lumpy dick.

His grandma used to make it many years ago and he has been missing in so he googled a recipe and made it.. As much as I love my husband I couldn't even swallow the thing! But at least he tried and he even admits that it was awful!
Well besides working and school for Stefen thats what has been going on in the Bolander home!

Random Nothings

Stefen got a job! He is now working at U haul and he will be working at home. He will start on Feb 28th and were both very happy for him. Because of this new job and him needing to computer most of the time we decided to get a laptop with the tax return so I could do school! So Friday night Stefen came home with a brand new gateway laptop. Its been fun because it has a webcam so we can now Skype people and see them face to face.
We didn't really do anything for valentines day this year as I have been horrendously sick with fevers and coughing and whatever else. But today I decided that I wasn't going to feel that way anymore! So I got up and went to enrichment which was so much fun unfortunately I probably should have stayed home but it was a blast to hear about peoples opinions on faith, divine nature, and individual worth, I have discovered that I am becoming an observer and large groups. Which if you know me at all I usually have something to say. But I think at the same time it works for me.
This weekend we have some friends from Utah coming over for the Arizona half marathon! I have known them most of my life and I am thrilled to have someone here that I know and that I am comfortable around!
